And the longer you are with him and these adventures continue the more confident and normal everything seems. There are several actions that could trigger this block including submitting a certain word or phrase, a SQL command or malformed data. With its blend of intriguing plotlines, humorous escapades, and mouth watering descriptions of French cuisine, this collection will leave readers entertained, hungry for more, and enamored with the endearing detective duo of Monsieur Pamplemousse and Pommes Frites. Further dramatic deaths amongst the film's cast and crew muddy the waters as Richard and Valérie hurtle towards a deadly nighttime confrontation with the killer.

My only regret is that the author hasn't written more in the series, crucially with the same characters. On the hole this was a very good book that continues with the ongoing saga of life in France for our main protagonist. This is the third book of the series and it’s been lovely to revisit the blundering Richard and mysterious Valerie (not to mention their deviant neighbours) in the French countryside.Fun quirky characters with a mix of both French and English ex-pats with a good dollop of Hollywood thrown in the mix.

As he follows the trail of clues, the quirky duo discovers that the key to solving the puzzle might lie in the very cheese that the town is famous for. It made me smile, perhaps not laugh out loud, but then I’m not a middle aged Englishman in France, so it’s hard to fully get Richard’s feelings. This terrific novel is the perfect antidote to forget for a few joyful hours the depressing world we live in! You can also listen on any Alexa-enabled device, compatible Fire tablets, Kindles, Sonos devices and more.Valerie’s affection for Richard is becoming more obvious and Richard himself is stepping out of his comfort zone, with numerous acts of heroism quite unlike that expected of our ‘Englishman’. Full of wit, sarcasm, humour and a whole lot of impossible situations, Death at the Chateau is another fantastic read for cosy murder mystery fans. I feel slightly cheated as not all the information is available before the denouement to make an educated guess, but the literal unmasking of the perpetrator was fun, being a mixture of skill and ineptitude. Egos collide and suspects abound as Richard and Valérie, aided by Richard's redoubtable and resourceful femme de ménage (domestic help) Madame Tablier, set about investigating the crime.
