I loved it! The tension, the intrigue, the undercurrents of revolution, and above all else, a warrior girl who still wants to love and be loved. This will be an immediate classic. Bravo!” ―Amy Harmon, Wall Street Journal, USA Today, and New York Times bestselling author Another theory is that the the woman leading the Shadow Court is Myrtle/Chesty. The lore of Wraithmarsh, the Shadow Court, and Chesty is explored in the Snowglobe portion of the See the Future DLC. This story is a tribute to Versailles, where I grew up. After the last class of the day at the local high school, I used to escape to the gardens of the nearby palace. There, by the calm water of the Grand Canal, I spent many afternoons devouring those stories of gothic vampires that I loved so much (Bram Stoker, Sheridan Le Fanu, Théophile Gautier, Anne Rice...).

This was, regrettably, a common enough conclusion on meeting Estevar Borros. A magistrate’s first duty being to the truth, he decided it was incumbent upon him to cure this new acquaintance of a potentially fatal ignorance. He coughed briefly before allowing his own deep baritone to rumble across the sandy shore.

Estevar cursed himself for failing to notice the smaller piece of parchment tight against the inside of the case. He had to dig it out with his fingernail before unfolding what turned out to be an elaborate sketch of a naked man such as one might find in a medical text. What made it unusual were the strange markings covering the body: esoteric sigils in designs unrecognisable to Estevar despite his years of research into the esoteric traditions of Tristia.

Court of Shadows (Vampyria Saga, book 1) by Victor Dixen The Court of Shadows (Vampyria Saga, book 1) by Victor Dixen

How strange that only moments before, he’d been ready to abandon this place and ignore Abbot Venia’s plea for him to arbitrate the dispute between his contentious monks. Now that this same dispute had exploded into something far more unsettling, Estevar found himself unable to walk away. Spellslinger Kellen would give anything to pass his mage’s trials, but what if magic is a con game? 😅During the quest Returning the Dark Seal The Hero of Bowerstone ventures into the Shadow Court to "return" the Dark Seal. He/She meets the Shadow Judges in a gigantic well made of tombs. As it seems Reaver has to continue sacrificing other people to remain young himself. Reaver intended that the Hero of Bowerstone's youth would be given to the shadows. A girl, Elizabeth, has accidentally teleported herself to the Shadow Court. The Hero of Bowerstone can choose to either sacrifice his/her own or Elizabeth's youth. However the central Judge mentions that Reaver cannot always sacrifice people and that one day, when the sacrifices stop, they will come for him. Binding of ACOSAS can be done only for personal use. If you like, I have the typeset and some covers on my Google Drive. Just message me for them.

The fault isn’t mine,’ Estevar grumbled, his words drowned out by the sleet and rain currently hampering their approach to the causeway. ‘Bring suit against the First Cantor if you’re so aggrieved. It was she who assigned us this gods-be-damned judicial circuit that never ends.’ se lit vite et facilement. A threat?’ he demanded, crushing the parchment in his fist as the rain poured down even harder, the thunder in the sky above punctuating his outburst. ‘Your precious margrave would seek to intimidate a Greatcoat into abandoning his lawful mission? Does he so fear what the Abbot of Isola Sombra might reveal to me of his activities that he’d stoop to—?’ Abbot Venia no longer rules Isola Sombra,’ the knight said icily, his countenance darkening. ‘He who once defied kings now cowers beneath the covers inside his tower while madness and devilry reigns over that holiest of islands!’ The Court of Shadows has intriguing world-building and a protagonist with true, merciless grit. You're rooted in the familiar, yet there are enough twists to break your expectations. Jeanne is vicious in her determination, and the king is utterly fascinating. I NEED TO SEE HIM WITHOUT THAT MASK!" - Charlie N Holmberg From the New York Times bestselling author of Asylum comes the second book in a creepy fantasy series that Publishers Weekly praised as “darkly delightful.” Perfect for fans of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children.
