Description

I would have liked to have seen the name of the color for each pencil. Colors on the barrel are not a good match of the core pigment colors.

The Markart and Nyoni pencils are an oil-dominant pencil – which is similar to many of the budget pencils that have been showing up in the market lately. All pencils still have a mix of wax, oil and other binders, so don’t get too caught up in the official marketing of these descriptions of pencils and what this means – just because a company says a pencil is “oily lead” doesn’t mean it is going to work like a Faber Castell Polychromos pencil. Watercolor pencils are the most accessible and super easy to work with. Just draw on paper and smudge it with water and you are set. In the world of pencils, these are considered one of the best colored pencils bar-none when it comes to useability. Things to Consider: Is a Colored Pencil Easy to Blend and why is this important? The Difference Between Markart and Nyoni

This guide will cover all sorts of colored pencil sets and types for your convenience saving you time and effort. We’ll help you find a good set of colored pencils so you can focus on ‘doing’ your hobby instead. The reason we always talk about wax and oil pencils is because most pencils use one type of binding more predominantly than the other, even if they include both. Wax-dominant pencils are often known to be more soft and buttery, like the Prismacolor Premier pencils. Whereas oil-dominant pencils are often firmer, less likely to break, but also harder to blend. While these traits are common of wax and oil pencils, they are not always the case, and there is a huge misconception that wax pencils are ALWAYS soft and blendable, while oil pencils are ALWAYS firm. The Nyoni set has a wide selection of colors. Each oil-based pencil is break-resistant because oil-based colored pencils are harder than wax-based pencils.

LYRA Rembrandt is a name that most artists know about when it comes to crayons and color pencils. They provide amazing color quality with their pencils. When I was swatching these pencils, I thought they were ok, but I wasn’t wowed by them. But now that I’m actually using them to color, I’m actually really impressed. These blend REALLY well. They are nice to hold and smooth on the paper. Most pencils are lightfast. The benefits entail colors on the surfaces to last longer even when exposed to light for long periods of time. UV protection is crucial in bright conditions.

Nyoni Oil Based Colored Colored Pencils Review and Summary

The 120 set has three trays. Tray 1 includes yellows, reds, and greens. Tray 2 includes more reds, blues, purples, and darker greens. Tray 3 includes browns, earth tones, and grays. I did like the range of pastels that were included in the set. I would say they are possibly the best affordable pencils I’ve come across so far. I’ll compare them shortly to some of the other pencils I’ve reviewed previously. But first, let’s see how the round pencils compare! The leads are firm enough that they aren’t breaking and they are easy to use, so they would be great for beginners. But they also don’t have the learning curve that I would expect from an oil-based pencil.

Most of the Nyoni are close, but a few pencils are way off- which I’ve found to be the case with many brands, and NOT just the cheapest brands I’ve bought. One of the first things I noticed is that Markart and Nyoni Colored Pencils are brands of Markart. I had the same experience with both pencils, and my review of both pencils is almost the same. The only difference I did notice is in the barrel description. Am I certain? No. But it is a close match. In my opinion, the Markart are comparable to Arteza and Brutfuner. Personally, I don’t love them as much as my Prismacolor because my Prismacolor blend extremely well – but I know the breakage of Prismacolor is a dealbreaker for many people, so if you’re looking for something firmer, this might be it.Go to ColoringButterfly.com YouTube Channel for more videos about coloring pencils, coloring books, and more. These pencils are still very good for the price, but if I had to choose between these and the square pencils, I’d buy the square pencils. So after all of this, I would say that these 2 sets of budget pencils perform the same, so if you own one set already, there’s no need to buy the other. But if you are looking to buy a set and both are a similar price, personally, I’d choose the Markart over the Nyoni. My main reason for this is the color of the barrels. The fact that these are more accurate to the color of the actual pencil core makes it so much easier to choose a color when you are coloring, and it removes the need to use swatches. I felt the blending and shading were just as good and met what I needed for coloring. I did experience a slight crumbling as I pressed harder, but I just brushed it away. Most of what is the best were mentioned in this list and the best for you may vary with usage and what you personally prefer. This is a huge win for the Markart pencils at this point, and might just be the deciding factor between these 2 seemingly identical sets. As I have opened and used pencil sets, it is not unusual in sets of coloring pencils to find them heavy in several colors like reds and blues and light in others like earth tones. The Nyoni color palette is balanced and gives me all the choices I would want to color in any themed adult coloring book easily (e.g., animals, mandala, jungle, forest, mythical, city, shapes, ocean, people). In the 120-pencil set, I liked the abundance of pastel color choices, which is unusual.
