While the selection of Freesat boxes out there isn’t very big – there are still distinct differences between the ones that are available – both in features and cost. Fear not if your home is dishless - getting a dish capable of receiving Freesat is simple. You can buy your own dish from any number of retailers. Our home wifi doesn't appear on the list when the box searches for wireless networks and when I put it in manually, it won't connect. You do get what you pay for, but if your budget is limited then this model is a sound choice. It delivers the full Freesat service and all from a neat and super-compact box. Avoid the 500GB version – you will run short of recording space in no time – and go straight to at least the 1TB version, or the 2TB model if you can afford it. If you like to keep your favourite programmes stored for watching later, you will be glad of the extra capacity. The On Demand button on your remote will take you straight to the On Demand menu where there are hundreds of hours of telly that can be watched at any time.
Because of the better reception and wider bandwidth, the Freesat service can offer more channels than Freeview – some of which are in HD.
