Description

A version of RME’s TotalMix FX, available for Windows, Mac and iOS systems, is included with the RME Fireface UCX II. This allows the user to apply EQ, reverb and delays to all inputs and outputs. Designed to utilise the full capabilities of the Fireface interface, TotalMix FX is a great tool for users regularly recording in different locations. Noting RME’s “relentless focus on driver quality, reliability and product longevity”, reviewer Sam Inglis outlines RME’s continued philosophy of designing long-lasting and ultra-reliable professional audio hardware. The RME Fireface UCX II can also integrate with RME's optional ARC USB remote control (sold separately). ALVA offer a collection of durable audio products built to the highest standards. Forming a perfect complement to the products from our partners from RME, there's an extensive selection of professional cables and a range of other items designed to make studio or on-stage life easier. for managing all settings and options of the ADI-2 series devices. The app supports ADI-2 DAC, ADI-2 Pro AE (Anniversary Edition), ADI-2 Pro and FS, ADI-2 Pro FS R BE and ADI-2/4 Pro SE.

One of the most noticeable changes in comparison with the original Fireface UCX is the new front panel, which for the UCX II has been updated to reflect that of other next-generation RME devices (such as the Fireface UFX+ and RME 12Mic), and allows full and immediate access to all features of the interface.Every input and output is individually switchable to these common professional studio levels: -10 dBV, +4 dBu, HiGain (equivalent to +2 dBV, +13 dBu and +19 dBu for digital full scale). Founded in 1977 in Skanderborg, Denmark, Dynaudio has over 40 years of experience in producing cutting-edge loudspeakers. For users who rely on the routing power that TotalMix offers, Class Compliant operation means that the UCX II can also be connected directly to an iPad. When paired with the TotalMix for iPad app, any iPad running iOS version 9 and above can turn their tablet into a fully-fledged TotalMix workspace. This feature set is most suited for home and project studios, where the use of 1-4 simultaneous inputs is the norm but gives ample scope for adding parts later on. This may include connecting boutique external preamps via the dedicated line inputs or adding further ins/outs using the ADAT ports (an optical cable is included in the box to get you started along this path).

Whilst the UCX II can be fully controlled from both TotalMix FX and the device’s front panel, if you’re in the studio you’ll likely benefit from something more tactile. TotalMix Remote mirrors the current state of the host system on the iPad and Windows/Mac computers - the entire mixing state, the complete routing, all FX settings, up to the level meters, and everything in real-time. But when you have just installed the company's driver, you will need to restart the machine, for TotalMix FX to be turned on. It looks harder to use on the inside than it looks on the outside. The company's reputation for build quality, reliability and audio performance has made it an industry benchmark across the world. The UCX II is a great-sounding, powerful audio interface for both studio and remote recording tasks. The two onboard preamps trend toward the transparent and neutral side of the scale and hold their own with many similar standalone models. The digital conversion is equally clean and transparent, and it is painless to add a favorite ADAT-equipped eight-channel preamp or expansion box and/or a stereo digital device or two, perhaps even digital-equipped monitor speakers. Wrap-up In terms of product, overall, this device is really great. The product has no scratches on the surface. So beautiful. Read Luke Goddard’s full Fireface UCX II review for Production Expert or watch our overview video below to learn more about RME’s all-new Advanced USB Audio Interface. I'd been wanting to upgrade to an RME interface for some time, from my aging Roland Quad-Capture - so when I saw the advance announcements for the new UCX II I was excited to jump onto it. And I must say: it was absolutely worth the wait: the difference is like night and day from what I had been using previously.

Both the UC and UCX models brought the addition of RME’s freshly developed USB 2.0 technologies – Firewire was on the way out as the format of choice, although a hint to the product’s beginnings remains in the name (‘Fireface’ was originally a reference to the connection type). Sidenote: RME continue to develop its own USB technologies in-house, with the ability to achieve a total of 70 discrete channels of audio each way (at 44.1 / 48 kHz) via USB 2.0, and at incredibly low buffer-sizes and round-trip latency. Each channel boasts latency-free processing, including a 3-band EQ, low-cut filter, echo, reverb, compressor, expander, and auto level

Customer Reviews

RME has continued to thrive in the crowded interface market by stoically concentrating on what they do best: uncompromised functionality and stability,” he writes. “Take a straw poll among engineers and ask them to think of a company synonymous with “stability”, and one name on a short list comes up time and again: RME.” DirectOut GmbH specialises in developing essential pro audio connectivity, networking and bridging solutions for broadcast, studio, live and installed sound applications.
