They're still getting themselves into absurd situations and haven't yet learned from their mistakes, but perhaps this is why we love them so much. But the ending of this book suggests that the next book about these characters could be told from Spud's point of view, through his autobiography. Welsh manages, however to imbue these characters with a sad humanity that makes them likable despite their obvious scumbaggerry. In a sense, the original groundbreaking novel feels more like a masterpiece if it stands up on its own.

Dead man’s trousers begins in 2015, with Renton, now a successful DJ Manager, when he encounters Begbie (now a big time artist in LA, with a beautiful wife and two kids) on a transatlantic flight.However, one thing we've learned throughout the Trainspotting series is that no matter how much someone tries to change, deep down inside they're the same person. A decent sequel to keep you on your toes, a hundred per cent recommended to everyone who's loved Trainspotting, Porno, Skagboys and Blade Artist. The book itself is a fun read (I couldn't put it down) and answers a lot of the questions left from their last encounter.
