Description

Frogg Toggs doesn’t list a specific lining material, but we believe it’s a combination of polypropylene and the waterproof membrane.

Also, Ponchos are great when the air is pretty still (since they breathe so well) but get a little wild if the wind kicks up and is blowing. Rented the Winter Backpacking package with my girlfriend the other weekend for doing some backcountry camping at Rocky Mountain National Park. As mentioned in those threads, the FT poncho is very thin and it will probably not fit over my pack. I believe that the Frogg Toggs Action Poncho is a tri-laminate (3 layers) and the Ultra-Light2 poncho is a Bi -laminuate (2 layers).

Here's the thing, first it's non woven, 2nd it's made out of polypropylene, which is the most hydrophobic fiber out there that is commonly used for clothing/attire. half the weight of the Ferrino Trekker we used before : less weight in the pack, and less sticky when worn. Now you can button up as much or as little of the sides of the poncho as you wish, adjusting for desired airflow. ponchos vs rain coats, and everyone seems to have a personal preference, from expensive brand names like Altus, to the cheapest plastic poncho on the market.

It was obvious that a standard, thin plastic emergency poncho was going to be too much trouble in the wind; I’ve worn them at Disney World and Universal Studios and knew that they cling. I assume that they are all waterproof, but would the type of material make a difference in how clammy or sweaty you get when wearing it for a long time? It's not open at all on the sides - there are slots on the sides to poke your arms out, but your arms would get pretty wet if you used poles. You can apply as little or as much tension as you wish, but do not over-tighten, as this will stress the poncho fabric unnecessarily. you get a pattern you can adjust to your preferences : overall length (can shelter a Macabi skirt ) sleeves. So, I have no problem with ponchos, used them in the past and if my only choice was to purchase a poncho, I’d probably get the biggest one I could find that doesn’t drag on the ground. Later that night, reflecting upon my day, I realized that this ridiculously inexpensive jacket performed just as well as the more expensive rain gear I had left at home.
