About this deal

Screams, screeching of tires, sirens and twisting of metal often assaults the ear of unsuspecting travellers on the road. It is believed this ghost is that of 22-year-old bride Suzanne Browne, who was killed with two friends in a road traffic accident near the bridge over the Old Chatham Road on the eve of her wedding on November 19, 1965. Haunted Kent claims with quieter roads, she attempted to freewheel down the hill before being confronted by a dark mist. Locals have suggested that the haunting may be connected to the death of three young women in a tragic accident in late 1965. According to Kent Live huge numbers of unsuspecting motorists have witnessed a woman running out in front of their cars late at night, often locking eyes with them before being hit and vanishing.

Here, and in numerous other modern cases, witnesses report vivid and terrifying encounters with solid-looking figures that step into the paths of their vehicles.A series of strange sightings have been reported by motorists between junction 16 and 19 of the M6, in Cheshire - including phantom lorries going the wrong way and a troubled woman constantly hitchhiking by the side of the road. A girl in white, with what he described as “beautiful eyes”, stepped in front of his car without warning and she disappeared under the front wheels. Halfway into the journey, they glance back at their passenger and are startled and shocked to see that no one else is in the car with them.

Since then, there have been reports of ghostly figures roaming the hill, and cars being pushed off the road by an unseen force. The father swore he would rather the ‘Devil’ took his daughter than have them meet again – which they did and the Devil appeared, chasing the terrified couple across the moor. Kit’s Coty sits alone looking over the downs, unloved and barely signposted, the constant drone of traffic ever present but blocked from view by shreds of woodland. One of the group - Patricia Ferguson - was killed at the scene, but Suzanne Browne and pal Judith Lingham died a few days later in a Maidstone hospital.
