However, when Eugene found and rescued Rapunzel and returned her to her parents, both Frederic and Arianna would profoundly grateful for him bringing their missing daughter home after 18 years and Arianna pulled him in for the family group hug. Eugene was pardoned by the king and Queen as a result of his heroic actions of returning Corona's long lost princess. At adulthood, Pascal would continue to serve as Rapunzel's best friend and confidant. Aside from Mother Gothel, he was Rapunzel's only friend during her imprisonment within the tower. For unknown reasons, however, his residence was kept confidential, as Rapunzel advised him to go into hiding whenever Gothel was near.
