About this deal

Some automobiles, like the Renault 14, the first-generation Fiat Panda, and early Subaru models like the Subaru Leone, kept their spare tire in the engine compartment. Space-saver spare tyres are also usually limited to a maximum speed of 50mph (80 km/h) and a maximum distance of about 50 miles, so it limits your options for getting to a suitable tyre shop. Your steering and braking performance will also be affected, so it’s very much a temporary solution. Many 1 series owners opt for non-runflat tyre as many of the latest 1-Series no longer have these fitted as standard. A lot of 1 Series do not come with a spare wheel as standard so BMW provide a puncture repair kit which will get you home if your tyre becomes punctured. If your car is on run-flats then we can provide such a kit – Continental comfort kit.

Lots on bmws also have different sized front and rear so it could only be a space saver not a fully sized wheel......Wrong! The BMW 1 Series. It’s been with us for a few years now, long enough to have a facelift! So with our partner Tyremen, let’s look at the winter wheel and tyre options for the baby of the BMW range.By replacing the full-size wheel with a space-saver spare wheel, costs go down and weight is saved. If you have a ‘breakdown kit’ of goo and compressor, the weight, space and cost savings are even greater.

I eventually bought and fitted the space saver (as illustrated above). Couple of points - it weighs a tonne and the wheel combined with the industrial quality securing straps completely destroy the practicality of the boot design. Even though I have not experienced a puncture in 15,000 miles, I think that BMW have been too clever by half in not designing the space capacity in the boot floor shells to accommodate a space saver. Crazy!

Using Your BMW Space Saver Wheel

Many Bristol automobile models, including the 404 from 1953 and the Fighter from 2004, came equipped with a full-size spare wheel and tire that was stored in a pannier box incorporated into the left wing. By keeping as much mass as possible within the wheelbase and balancing the weight of the battery, which is mounted in a similar compartment in the right-hand wing, this not only increased luggage space and made it simple to access the spare tire without having to empty the trunk, it also improved weight distribution. Where can I find a spare tire?

The recommended tyre pressure for this wheel kit is 60 psi (4.14 bar) - your wheel and tyre will be supplied inflated to the correct pressure, ready for use.Compact space-saver spare wheels emerged in the 1980s as manufacturers looked to start saving money and weight in their cars. Many individuals won’t know whether their car has a spare wheel or not since they have a puncture every 44,000 miles, or every five years, according to tire manufacturer Continental. More and more automakers have switched from traditional spare wheels to tyre repair kits during the past ten years. They identify two key causes for this: repair kits are lighter and take up less room, which improves fuel economy. The default spare wheel offering until the 1990s and now virtually non-existent. Until recent years, it was considered standard practice for all cars to come with five identical wheels and tyres – four on the road and one in the boot. Run-flat tires allow you to keep moving after a puncture, giving you time to travel to an auto shop or locate a level, safe place to change your tire. Aluminum wheels are lighter and can be manufactured to create additional clearance, that ensures modern brake calipers can be accommodated. Many steel wheels do not have the correct clearance.

So it's you who's wrong. You can't carry a full sized spare when the wheels are different sizes front and rear without carrying 2 spares. More and more manufacturers are supplying vehicles with repair kits instead of a proper spare wheel and tyre. They say that this is because it saves on weight, but the reality is that it's just another way for them to cut costs. Many drivers would prefer a spare wheel and tyre to get them home safely - that's where Road Hero comes in!

It’s a popular choice among buyers because it makes the car look a bit more sporty, but many of those buyers subsequently go on to regret their decision. That’s because Sport models have run-flat tyres – which means the 1 Series does without a spare wheel. Unfortunately, these tyres have extremely stiff sidewalls, which means every lump of the UK’s bumpy roads can be felt in the cabin. By Category Electronic Fan Controllers Electronic Fan Cooling Kits Electronic Fans Engine Paint and Enamel Run-flat tires are therefore a requirement on almost every BMW vehicle produced in America. The automaker’s BMW I electric vehicle line and BMW M motorsport division are the sole exceptions. If I have a flat tire and no spare, what should I do?
