Description

A handsome, dryly tongue-in-cheek volume. . . . All in all, a delightful treatment for readers fascinated by dragons. A complex respiratory system comprising several air sacs in addition to the diaphragm mechanism seen in drakes, Inevitably one version has the dragon slain by a knight-errant after the king of Sussex offered his daughter's hand in marriage to whoever rid them of the beast. Legend says that after marrying the princess the knight settled in Lyminster and his gravestone, the Slayer's Slab can be seen in Lyminster church.

This is an amazing book. I discovered it in the book section of K-Mart, of all places. I couldn't buy it just then, but I remembered the title and put it on my wish-list. This was one of many books I asked for last Christmas and my mom got it for me. Books like this are really great in an age when fewer and fewer people are reading books. Even my husband, who hates to read was interested in this book. Dragons are an extremely rare genus of reptiles, who are of course studied by dragonologists. Some of them have wings, and all have between four legs to none. Many dragons are said to breath fire, which is false, as they use toxins in their mouths to create fire, poison, or in the case of the Frost Dragon, a blast of ice! As far as body coverings go, all of them have scales somewhere, though some do have skin, and even feathers. Said to originate from the library of eminent Victorian dragonologist Ernest Drake, this book imparts to readers the secrets of the ancient science of dragonology. It includes a host of novelties such as old letters, magic dust, dragon scales, gems, spells in envelopes and booklets of riddles. Dragonology: Hatch - collect diamonds, rubies, sapphires, amethyst and emeralds as you try to outwit opposing Dragonologists and befriend various types of dragons. Includes 53 cards, with 40 suited cards, 13 command cards, 6 dragon cards, 4 dragon egg cards, 3 tools, 4 key cards and instruction booklet, all stored in a round tin. Despite their superficial resemblance, the Draconimorpha are not particularly closely related to any other clade of modern reptiles. They are in fact, members of the Parareptilia, a subclass of Reptilia which also includes the now extinct Pareiasaurs among others, and are quite distinct from the more familiar Eureptilia, which includes the lepidosaurs (tuataras, lizards & snakes), archosaurs (crocodiles & birds) and the testudines (turtles and tortoises).

Dragonology is the title of several books, a modeling kit, and a board game, among other things. The books were written by Doctor Ernest Drake, a Dragonologist (a scientist who studies dragons), and were written in the 1800s. The books are re-created for modern audiences by editor Dugald A Steer, with other contributors credited as Helen Ward ("Scientific Artist"), Douglas Carrel ("Chief Draughtsman"), Wayne Anderson ("Pictorial Artist"), and Nghiem Ta ("Artistic Direction"). Many dragon species pose a major threat to humans, but none more so than one of the largest, the enormous Eurasian mountain devil ( Magnadrakon imperiosus). With a wingspan of 13.5-15m and standing over 5m in height, this dragon is the size of a small aircraft and can look a giraffe in the eye. I read the whole thing to my youngest daughter, some of the words were beyond her comprehension level--not to mention pronunciation. We had fun with it. Funny! The author tries to be serious in a pretend kind of way.

What makes it worse is that "Dragonology" still stands as one of the higher-quality and more convincing of the 'Ologies'. iki yıl sonra şu kitabı pdf de olsa bulduğuma inanamıyorum ama yani bunu kanlı canlı, ciltli olarak istiyorum This video was made by Javerage's Face and used with permission. It may contain some factual errors but is provided for an engaging introduction to the subject. The Simurgh (Titanochiroptera trigintavis) is a large megachiropteran bat indigenous to the temperate mountain forests of the Mid-East. Weighing up to 150 lb with a wingspan of 33–36 feet, it is the largest bat in the world. Kit, Borys (August 27, 2012). The Frost Dragon (scientifically known as Draco Occidentalis Maritimus) is a dragon which lives in the polar habitats of the arctic and antarctic . Reaching lengths of upto 22m, and weighing upto 7 tons, the largest known sea serpent is without doubt the greater sea orm or Jormungandr ( Poseidonophis titanis). For fleshing out your idea of dragons for your fantasy art or novels, it's perfect, and anyone with artistic sense will adorable the effort put into the illustrations. Douglas Carrel, Chief Draughtsman: A native of Scotland, Douglas Carrel was clearly a dragonologist of some standing, and often accompanied Dr. Drake on some of his more fruitful expeditions. In a letter from Constantinople to the editor he says, "It is with considerable sense of honour, and no small amount of pride, that I lend my hand to the compiling of this most worthy volume . . . Ultimately, I feel that all of us—within this privileged circle in particular—are duty-bound to preserve and perpetuate the love and lore of dragons."

A fictional scientist's exhaustive reference guide to the fantastic reptiles. Who knew that dragon dung is a skin tonic? DRAGONOLOGY: THE COMPLETE BOOK OF DRAGONS is the perfect first volume for the budding Dragonologist. . . . This book is a terrific way to engage any young reader while encouraging their interests in the colorful and captivating world of fantasy.

Dragonologists, both amateur and academic, will hail Dr. Drake’s lavishly illustrated, ‘rediscovered’ guide. For those looking for some absorbing fiction, though, it will only disappoint - as much as it pretends to be serious, it falls flat on it's face with cheap props - shiny paper and glitter make up most of the 'proof' of dragons existing. In his afterword, Dr. Drake reveals that one of the crucial goals of dragonologists is to preserve the magnificent creatures of their study wherever possible - a goal this tongue-in-cheek volume most affectionately achieves. An incomparable gift for secret dragonologists everywhere! Novels set in the world of Dragonology. Two children, Daniel and Beatrice Cook, spend the summer with their parents' eccentric former tutor, Dr. Ernest Drake. Not only do Daniel and Beatrice begin to study Dragonology, but they are soon thwarting the efforts of Evil Dragonologists and working to actively keep dragons safe and secret. What single gift once engrossed my three boys so much that they stopped opening Christmas presents -- I swear -- for a full 15 minutes? A gorgeous compendium called DR. ERNEST DRAKE'S DRAGONOLOGY: THE COMPLETE BOOK OF DRAGONS.
