Eric Clapton fans will also now have the opportunity to experience the excitement of the legendary Royal Albert Hall concerts on the big screen as Unique X and Iconic Events present the Across 24 Nights cinema event globally on May 17th, with encore screenings from May 21st. Five of the 1990 concerts were recorded for the live album – the final nights of the first three ensembles, and the final two nights of the orchestra. In 1990, Clapton set the record for headlining the most amount of shows at the Hall with 18, breaking his own record one year later when he played 24 shows. Ahead of the box set's release, the feature movie Across 24 Nights will be screened in cinemas worldwide on May 17. But I thought that 24 nights was a period where EC was beginning to embrace his blues roots and stinging guitar leads.

The biggest highlight from the orchestral concert – and possibly the entire boxed set – is the previously unreleased 30-minute epic, ‘Concerto for Guitar. The second six nights featured a nine-piece band, with the four-piece band joined by Phil Palmer on guitar, Alan Clark on keyboards, Ray Cooper on percussion, and backing vocalists Katie Kissoon and Tessa Niles.It was reissued in June 2023 as The Definitive 24 Nights in a limited edition box set containing songs which were not included in the original release. This is a significant overhaul of October 1991’s original Eric Clapton 2CD 24 Nights, now expanded to fill six CDs (or 16 sides of vinyl) either as a box set (boosted by Blu-ray video) or three standalone double CDs – subtitled Rock, Blues and Orchestral to reflect the different star-studded backing Clapton employed on various nights of his long residencies. This release should have been pressed in the Netherlands (record planet, Haarlem - Music on Vinyl) or at RTI.
